One Day Manchester United Will Apologise To Mourinho
“Jose Mourinho is the 3rd most successful manager in Man United history, despite spending just two full seasons.”
That is the words of Akin Alabi on reflecting on Jose Mourinho’s era and Man United current state in the league and in Europe.
On Today’s Blitz we consider the writers reflection as below:
He came into the club after we came 5th. Brought in Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Bailey. Won the League Cup and Europa League and got us back into the champions league. . .
Second season, he brought in Lukaku, Lindelof and Matic. He came second with 81 points beating every team in the league and getting to the finals of the FA Cup. . .
The next logical step is to buy more quality players in order to compete. What did Ed Woodward give him? . .
Dalot and Fred ONLY!!!! .
He threw a tantrum. He kept moaning that the squad was not good enough. Performances went down and he got fired and walked away with £15 as compensation. .
Somehow, United fans believed the team was good enough. They deceived themselves that Martial, Rashford etc are world class.
When Ole took over and we had what is called Manager Bounce in football, everyone started saying “we told you, the players are good enough” and “call Mourinho and sack him again”. Now we are seeing the truth.
I hope Ole will be man enough to go bullish in the summer and I hope he will be back.
A top team is not an academy where you “improve” players. In today’s football, you buy quality players, if you want to be a top team.
